Grimsby bridge: More footpath closures announced
- Published
Further footpath closures have been announced for a landmark bridge in Grimsby.
Corporation Road Bridge has been closed to traffic since February 2023 while the Grade II-listed structure undergoes a £5m restoration.
Along with the road closure, North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) has announced six more dates in June when the bridge will be closed to pedestrians.
The footpath will be shut between 09:00 and 16:00 BST on 5, 6, 11, 19, 20 and 26 June.
Weekend work will also take place on 1, 2, 15 and 16 June, but the path will stay open on those days.
The restoration includes steel work and roof repairs along with mechanical preparation work to the underdeck of the bridge at low tide.
NELC said the closures were necessary for the safety of both the public and the contractors.
The bridge first opened in 1925 and is a main route into Grimsby town centre.
The current work was initially anticipated to have been completed in December 2023.
