A dog has been rescued by firefighters after she fell 30m (98ft) down a well.

Cora, the three-year-old Patterdale Terrier, had been chasing game on a farm in Great Chesterford, Essex, when she went into a disused building and fell.

Crews from Essex Fire and Rescue Service ventilated the well, after finding oxygen levels down it were dangerously low.

Ropes were then used to get to the curious canine, who was "completely unharmed".

"Firefighters worked to ventilate the well and light up the scene so that specially trained firefighters from our Urban Search and Rescue team could begin the complicated rope rescue," the fire service said.

Cora was eventually reunited with her owner and checked over by a vet.
