Firefighters have tackled a wildfire that broke out on heathland near a dual carriageway.

More than 30 firefighters were called to the blaze at Blackwater, in Hampshire, near the A30 shortly after 14:00 BST on Friday.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said crews from stations including Yateley, Rushmoor, Basingstoke and Fleet extinguished the fire, which covered about two hectares (five acres) of undergrowth.

The fire service said the fire was out by about 20:00, with crews due to return to the heath on Saturday morning for a reinspection.
