MK Lightning 'proud and happy' after winning National Cup

MK Lightning beat Hull Seahawks 5-1, and 10-5 on aggregate, to win the NIHL Cup

Ice hockey team MK Lightning are celebrating after becoming NIHL Cup winners.
They beat Hull Seahawks 5-1 in the second leg of the final at Planet Ice in Milton Keynes last night, to win 10-5 on aggregate.
A spokeswoman said a huge amount of work has gone into reaching this point and "we couldn't be prouder and happier".
"We are so grateful to our loyal and loud fans who lift the team with their support, and create an atmosphere which makes Milton Keynes ice hockey an incredible place to be when we play," she added.

The team paid tribute to "our players, coaches and staff for what they have achieved"
Toms Rutkis scored a hat-trick for the home team who play in the second tier of British ice hockey.

"The bond between our team and our fans is truly special, and it's a significant factor in our success," a Lightning spokeswoman said
