Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting and stabbing of a teenager in Leeds.

The boy, 16, was attacked by a group of males in Cambrian Terrace, Holbeck, in the early hours of 13 October.

He sustained machete wounds to his arm and leg and injuries on his left arm were consistent with a shotgun discharge, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force said a 22-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm and another man, 46, had been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and both remained in custody.

A spokesperson said the arrests followed search warrants being executed at the Cottingley Springs traveller site, in Gelderd Road, earlier this morning.

The victim of the attack, who was released from hospital after treatment, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the incident.

He has since been released on conditional bail.
