A drug dealer serving 25 years for attempted murder has absconded from an open prison.

Osei Kuffour, 36, failed to return to HMP Spring Hill in Buckinghamshire when he was due back at about 19:00 BST on Sunday, Thames Valley Police said.

Kuffour was jailed in 2014 after he shot a woman customer in the face in her home, as reported by the Newham Recorder, external.

Police have described him as 5ft 5in tall, of stocky build. He was last seen wearing dark tracksuit bottoms or jeans and a black jacket and was known to frequent the Ilford area of east London.

The force said the governor of the open jail, in Grendon Underwood, had revoked his licence to leave the prison and he "no longer has any authority or lawful licence to be in the community and is therefore considered unlawfully at large".

Det Insp Mark Hill said: "If you see Kuffour, do not approach him and call 999 instead."
