Arrest after e-bike rider seriously hurt in crash

A driver has been arrested following a crash in Leicester that left an e-bike rider with life-threatening injuries.

Leicestershire Police said it was called to reports of a collision involving a red Audi A4 and an e-bike in Forest Road, off the A47 Humberstone Road, just after 23:30 BST on Monday.

The rider - a man in his 20s - was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 21-year-old man, who was driving the Audi, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and driving with an alcohol level above the legal limit and remains in custody.

Det Insp Lisa Wood said: "Our investigation to establish the circumstances of this incident is continuing and I'm appealing for anyone who can help to come forward."
