No more daily closures are required in December for surveying works

The planned closure of a major route connecting the Isle of Man's capital with the north has been called off following the completion of surveying works.

A section of the A18 Mountain Road was due to close on Tuesday, however the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said it was "no longer required".

The road was closed for several hours on Monday for the works, which had also seen part of the carriageway shut for two previous periods in December.

The works are part of a road safety improvement programme, which will see a month long closure from 31 March for resurfacing and other maintenance works.

Wednesday had been earmarked as a contingency day but will no longer be used, the DOI said.
