Six teenagers in Guernsey have been appointed as Lieutenant Governor cadets.

They were presented with engraved medals, badges and certificates by Lieutenant Governor Lt Gen Richard Cripwell in a ceremony at Government House on Wednesday evening.

Cadet candidates are suggested by youth organisations and schools and then selected by a panel which this year consisted of the chief executive of the Youth Commission, Louise Leale, and the secretary and aide de camp to the Lieutenant Governor, Major Marco Ciotti.

The first cadets were appointed in Guernsey in 1988 by the Lieutenant Governor of the day, Sir Alexander Boswell.

The Lieutenant Governor cadets for 2024/2025 are:

  • Alexa of St John Ambulance Cadets

  • Owain of 2nd Guernsey Boys’ Brigade

  • Emilia of 1st Guernsey Scouts

  • Sophia of The Ladies’ College

  • Braden of Elizabeth College Combined Cadet Force

  • Eva of The Ladies’ College
