The latest closure of a section of the A3 in Surrey is set to begin, National Highways has announced.

The government agency said it would shut the A3 southbound carriageway between the A245 Painshill roundabout and the B2215 Send from 21:00 BST on Friday to 06:00 on Monday.

It is part of continuing work to add a new lane to the A3 at its junction with the M25.

Benefits of the scheme once it is completed will include improved safety and journey times, reduced congestion and increased road capacity, National Highways said.
