A man grabbed a woman by her neck and threw her into bushes, police have reported.

Wiltshire Police say he also lifted her friend over his shoulder before throwing her on the ground.

One of the victims was taken to hospital with injuries following the attack on Westwood Road, Salisbury.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, harassment and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. He has been released on bail.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 9.30pm on 18 March, by the junction to Rambridge Crescent, a man reportedly lifted one of the women over his shoulder and thrown them onto the ground.

"When her friend tried to help she was grabbed by the neck and thrown into a bush.

"One woman was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries. The assaults were carried out in front of a young child.

"We believe a man stopped his vehicle to check on the welfare of the women.

"We are keen to speak to him, or anyone else who saw what happened."
