A former head teacher has admitted to abusing his position and taking more than £15,000 from two primary schools he worked at.

Neil Metcalf, of Jubilee Avenue, Kensington, Liverpool pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position while at St Anthony of Padua RC Primary School and Our Lady’s Bishop Eton Primary School, in Mossley Hill.

The 51-year-old initially denied the charges at Liverpool Magistrates Court but pleaded guilty earlier at Liverpool Crown Court.

Metcalf was further remanded on bail to await sentencing on 19 August.

He admitted that while headmaster of the St Anthony of Padua school he dishonestly abused his position to gain £10,800 for himself between 7 September, 2017 and 24 May 24, 2022.

The other charge involves him abusing his position while headmaster of Our Lady’s Bishop Eton school to gain £4,690 for himself.
