A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by reckless driving following a two-car crash in Wolverhampton.

The crash happened on Friday at about 20:45 GMT at the junction of Rookery Lane and Goldthorn Hill.

A woman in her 60s and a teenage boy were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police said a 29-year-old man was arrested in the Folkestone area of Kent on Saturday and, following checks at hospital, was being transferred to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning.

The crash involved a blue VW Polo and a blue Suzuki SX4 S Cross. The West Midlands force is appealing for anyone with dash cam footage from the area at the time.

Det Sgt Julie Lyman, from Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Although an arrest has been made we are still working to establish exactly what happened."

The unit was "carrying out door-to-door inquiries and trawling local CCTV", she added.
