A second man has been charged with murder over a fatal shooting earlier this month.

Connor Brookes, 20, was shot on Well Lane in Blakenall, Walsall, just before 17:00 BST on Monday 8 July, with another man wounded and treated in hospital for a gunshot injury described by police as not life-threatening.

Byron Sellick, 20, from Walsall, was arrested on Wednesday and has since been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He has been remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

A 22-year-old man previously charged with the same alleged offences is also on remand.

A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation have been bailed under conditions while inquiries continue.

Mr Brookes's family issued a tribute earlier this month, saying he had a "heart of gold" and was a "beautiful son, brother and uncle".

"We are all devastated at the loss we have suffered, such a tragic loss of life at such a young age when he had his future ahead of him," they said.
