The family of a man who was shot dead in Walsall said he had a "heart of gold" and was a "beautiful son, brother and uncle".

Connor Brookes, 20, died at the scene on Well Lane in Blakenall, Walsall on Monday.

His family said he was a "well-loved, respectful young man" and "the whole family as well as the community loved Connor".

"We are all devastated at the loss we have suffered, such a tragic loss of life at such a young age when he had his future ahead of him," they added.

Another man was wounded and treated in hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

West Midlands Police said a van was believed to have been shot at, injuring one passenger and killing another.

The force said officers were given an extra 36 hours to question two men, aged 22 and 18, and a 17-year-old boy who were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The force said it was supporting Mr Brookes' family and appealed for anyone with footage or information to get in touch.

A Section 60 dispersal order which was in force on Wednesday was extended until 05:00 BST on Thursday.
