A spillage was caused by a crash on the M25 in Hertfordshire

All lanes have reopened on the M25 in Hertfordshire following a serious crash and subsequent spillage.

Three of four lanes had been closed anti-clockwise between Junction 19 for Watford and junction 18 for Rickmansworth.

The spillage had contributed to delays of more than an hour, National Highways said, external.

Delays remained in the area while the backlog of traffic was cleared.
