Islanders have until the end of December to submit a poem commemorating, reflecting and celebrating 80 years since the Bailiwick of Guernsey's liberation.

Guernsey Arts announced its 2025 Poetry Open event in November, launching a programme of events and inviting islanders to submit a piece of poetry for publication in a commemorative anthology.

Successful poems will be used to create a commemorative 80th Liberation anniversary book about the island's liberation in 1945.

Jade Kershaw, community and public realm officer, said all entrants were welcomed.

She said: "Guernsey Arts is really excited about the programme of events we have planned for 2025, and the Liberation 80th Poetry Open is shaping up to be a great resource for documenting thoughts on occupation and liberation 80 years on.

"Poetry is a great, accessible artform that anyone can try; we'd love to see entries not just from established poets but also those who would call themselves beginners."

Poets have until 31 December to enter and they can be written in English or the island's patois language Guernesiais.
