Third man arrested in canal murder inquiry bailed

A third person arrested on suspicion of murder after a 57-year-old man was found fatally injured on a bench has been released on bail.

Robert Brown was found on a footpath with fatal injuries behind Auctioneers Court, Northampton, at about 06:30 BST on 1 August.

Northamptonshire Police said a 32-year-old man from Northampton who was arrested on Sunday has been released pending further investigation.

Two other people previously arrested on suspicion of murder were also released on bail.

A post-mortem examination on 2 August found Mr Brown had suffered an arm wound.

Mr Brown's parents and brothers previously paid tribute to him and said he was "always full of fun".

Det Insp Torie Harrison, who is leading the force's murder investigation, appealed for witnesses and said: "Our investigation is ongoing, and we continue to follow a number of lines of inquiry."
