Roads reopen after snow and ice cause disruption

Snow and ice brought disruption to parts of North Yorkshire on Wednesday, with driving conditions on some roads described as "treacherous".
North Yorkshire Police said it had received reports of "lots of congestion" on coastal routes in particular.
The A169 between Sleights and Whitby, the A171 at Fylingdales and the A170 from Whitby towards Guisborough were earlier "impassable", but police said they had since reopened.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice across the county is in force until 10:00 GMT on Thursday.
North Yorkshire Councillor Keane Duncan said gritters had been out on “all the priority routes”, adding they would be working “every day of the cold weather event".
He said: “We’ve seen significant snowfall up on the coastal areas, particularly up on the higher ground in the North Yorkshire Moors.
“There has also been some particularly hazardous conditions, which have also caught our bin collection crews off guard and hampered their efforts today as well.”
Forestry England said on its website that Dalby Forest was closed “until further notice”.
Scarborough's Alpamare water park was closed on Wednesday due to the weather.
Operators said in a post on Facebook: "Sorry for any inconvenience, but we have to put our customer and employee safety first.
"If you have a ticket booked today we will honour it for another day."
Boro Cars Scarborough said its drivers were facing “unavoidable delays”, warning: “The snow is really coming down, and road conditions are tough across the area.
“Our drivers are out there doing their best to get to you safely, but delays are unavoidable right now.”
The RAC said it had seen a big rise in breakdowns due to people's batteries failing in the cold, while National Rail warned commuters to check their journeys before travelling.
BBC weather presenter Paul Hudson said "milder weather is just around the corner", with temperatures on Sunday set to reach 14C (57F), although the rise will be coupled with strong winds and heavy rain.
