  5. Bus skids off the road in South Yorkshirepublished at 11:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

The worst of the snow may have passed for today but conditions were certainly hazardous in Stocksbridge last night, where a bus skidded off the road and appeared to hit the side of house.

A spokesperson for operator Stagecoach said no-one was hurt in the incident, which involved the number 57 service.

The company added: "Safety is our absolute priority, and we will investigate the full circumstances involved."

The Met Office has issued a fresh weather warning for snow and ice across parts of North Yorkshire.

The yellow warning runs along the east coast from Scotland to East Anglia from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.

It says snow and ice could lead to "difficult travelling conditions" with possible disruption to roads and rail services, and gives a reminder to be careful of ice on the pavements.

  9. 'Check on elderly friends and neighbours'published at 09:39 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

The UK Health Security Agency is urging people to keep a close eye on vulnerable and elderly neighbours as temperatures plummet.

Dr Agostinho Sousa said: "This is the first amber cold weather health alert of the season, but we can expect more as we approach winter, and it is vital to check in on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours to ensure they are well prepared for the onset of cold weather.

Meanwhile, Age UK, says older people should keep themselves nourished with hot food and drinks throughout the day, wrap up warm and sleep with the windows closed.

"With high energy bills and food prices it is understandable that some may think they have to cut back on food and turn their heating off, but prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can have a serious impact on an older person's health, especially if they are already trying to manage existing illnesses," the charity said.

    Katerina Christodoulou
    BBC Weather

It's going to be a cold day with some lingering snow this morning, before clearing to the south to leave mostly cloudy skies.

The cloud may break up to bring some late brightness towards the evening.

This evening and tonight is expected to be very cold and clear with clear skies and a chilly northerly wind developing. An icy night.

  13. More rail disruptionpublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

The roads are all looking relatively clear across Yorkshire this morning, and while most of the train services are running there's a few cancellations here and there.

National Rail Enquiries is reporting disruption between Doncaster and Retford, in the East Midlands, because of a loss of power in the overhead cables. It's not clear if this is weather-related or not. , external

  14. On the tramspublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

If you're getting the tram to work in Sheffield this morning, the purple route is currently suspended, according to the operator. This appears to be due to a points issue, however, rather than anything weather-related.

Other routes looking clear, according to Supertram's X account, external.

  15. How long will the snow last?published at 08:45 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

Not too long, if the forecast is anything to go by.

The Met Office's yellow weather warning for snow and ice, which covers Yorkshire as well as the East Midlands and North West, is due to end at 11:00 GMT today.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, it's looking like temperatures will hit the zero mark again tonight and though it will stay cold during the days, we're not expecting too much more of the white stuff - save for a possible sprinkling on Saturday morning.

  16. North Yorks escapes (most of) the white stuffpublished at 08:32 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

By contrast it's looking pretty clear further north and on the coast in the region this morning.

Rural North Yorkshire often gets weather as bad (or good) as anywhere, but it looks like there's only been a smattering of snow across much of that part of the county today.

This is our first taste of winter.

I've been up at Owler Bar, high above Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District.

It's here where we were told we would be getting the most of the snow, up to 200mm of the white stuff.

Our drive up here was quite treacherous, even on the low ground in parts there's been a large amount of snow.

While we've been here we've seen lots of snow ploughs and gritters going past trying to keep people on the move.

  19. Rail disruption now reportedpublished at 08:17 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November

Train services were running smoothly first thing morning, but there now appears to be disruption on the network.

Operator Northern say services between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield have been affected by the weather. Bear in mind too that engineering works around Huddersfield have been disrupting trains to and from there for much of the last couple of weeks.
