Two arrested after cyclist seriously hurt in crash

Two men have been arrested after a cyclist was seriously injured following a crash with a car in Banbury.

Thames Valley Police said it happened on Southam Road on Thursday shortly before 23:40 BST.

The cyclist was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The force said the pair aged 24 and 21, both from the town, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle dangerously. They remain in custody.

Road closures were in place Friday morning but have now been lifted.

The force said: "We would like to express our thanks to the public for their patience and co-operation during our attendance and examination of the scene."

Officers investigating the collision say they would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it or who has any information.
