A major road in East Yorkshire will be closed for two nights later this week while a contraflow system is removed.

The A1079 Beverley bypass will be closed from the Dunswell roundabout to the Killingwoldgraves roundabout.

The road closures will be in place on 23 and 24 October between 19:00 BST and 05:00 each night.

The work is part of the £87m East Riding of Yorkshire Council scheme to improve the Jock's Lodge junction, the busiest in the East Riding, where the A1079 and A164 meet.

The road closures were previously advertised to take place between 7 and 17 October but were pushed back.

While the road closures are in place, the westbound A164 between Victoria/Morrison’s roundabout and Ward Way roundabout will temporarily reopen to traffic.

The Jock's Lodge improvement scheme is expected to be completed in 2026.
