Seven men deny man's murder in town park

Seven men accused of murdering a man in a park in Dewsbury will go on trial next year.
Shahmus Hussain, 36, was fatally attacked during disorder at Crow Nest Park, off Heckmondwike Road, in the Dewsbury Moor area of the town, on 12 July.
At Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday, Saqlain Ali, 21, Basit Ali, 31, Sakeb Khan, 32, Asim Akram, 21, Faizaan Akram, 18, Zeeshan Khan, 18, and Asif Azeem, 23, all denied murder.
His Honour Judge Tom Bayliss KC set a trial date of 13 January 2026, with proceedings expected to last six weeks.
The defendants were all remanded in custody ahead of the trial.
