Man arrested after taxi driver racially abused

A man has been arrested after a taxi driver was racially abused and spat at in Nottingham city centre.
Nottinghamshire Police said an Uber driver had been parked in Victoria Street when an "intoxicated man" got in the car and told him to drive at about 21:30 BST on Saturday.
When the driver explained he could only take pre-booked passengers, the man became aggressive before leaving the car and hurling racist abuse at the driver and spitting at him, the force said.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault and has been bailed on conditions.
During the incident, the man challenged the taxi driver to a fight, prompting the driver to start recording the man on his phone.
PC Harry Brown, overseeing the case, said: "This was an appalling incident that left the victim too distressed to carry on with his shift.
"It is simply not okay for anyone to subject anyone to racial abuse, and this kind of behaviour will never be tolerated by us as a force."
