'Ridiculous' roadworks make drivers see red
- Published
Angry drivers have complained about "ridiculous" delays caused by roadworks in Devon.
Neil English said the traffic lights on the A379 Dartmouth Road, near Windy Corner in Paignton, meant a 5-mile (8km) journey to Brixham that normally tales 15 minutes had taken him 75 minutes.
"These roadworks at this junction are a complete joke, the traffic chaos it's causing is ridiculous," he said.
Torbay Council has been contacted for comment.
Another driver said traffic lights had been "causing chaos with great delays".
"The backroads and shortcuts are being filled too and they can’t cope," he said.
The work is the final phase of a project to remove traffic islands and widen a cycle path.
According to signs at the scene of the roadworks, which started on Monday, they are due to end on 16 December.
