The opening night of a music festival in Hull city centre, which was due to feature a homecoming gig by Calum Scott, has been postponed.

Organisers of "Live From The Yard" said the decision had been taken due to "circumstances beyond the control" of Scott and themselves.

The festival, in Zebedee's Yard, was due to kick off later and run for four days, but it is now expected to begin on Friday.

Scott's show would be rescheduled, the organisers said, with a new date to be announced "very soon".

All other shows due to take place across the weekend would go ahead as planned, the organisers added.

They advised people who booked for the Scott gig to keep hold of their tickets and said refunds would be given to those unable to attend the revised date.

Scott, who is from the city, has been on tour with Ed Sheeran and is due to appear in Zagreb on Saturday.

In a statement, Live From The Yard said: "Due to circumstances beyond the control of the artist and the event organiser unfortunately Thursday's Live From The Yard show featuring Calum Scott can no longer go ahead as planned."

Caity Baser, Tim Gallagher and Charlotte Jane had been due to support Scott later.

Ocean Colour Scene and Cast are due to play at the festival on Friday night.

A "Ministry of Sound Classical" evening is planned for Saturday, with Razorlight and The Zutons due to play on Sunday.
