Man, 75, found dead in Wirral house fire

A man has died in a fire at a home in a seaside town in Wirral that broke out early in the morning, a fire service has said.

Crews from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in the ground floor living room of the property on Stanley Road in Hoylake just before 03:00 BST on 7 August .

On arrival they found the fire had spread to the first floor and battled to contain the blaze, which was put out at about 05:00.

The body of a 75-year-old man was found during a search of the property, and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.
