Parts of the A1(M) were closed for about 10 hours due to an "electrical issue" affecting Hatfield Tunnel, in Hertfordshire.

National Highways said the northbound carriageway, between junctions three and four, and southbound, between junctions four and two, was shut at about 02:44 BST but reopened at about 13:00.

Engineers worked throughout the day to fix the problem.

It said it may still have to close the road later but thanked drivers for their patience.
