The family of a man who died in a hit-and-run in South Yorkshire has said he will be "very sadly missed".

Anthony Shephard, 40, was struck by a blue Audi on Harborough Hill Road in Barnsley at about 19:40 BST on 19 September and died at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police arrested two males, aged 17 and 20, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, with both since released on bail.

His family said in a statement: "Anthony has been taken away from us in the most tragic of circumstances.

"We have lost a loving son, dad to three children, brother, nephew, cousin and uncle."

They thanked the police and people who tried to help him at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has footage of the car before or after leaving the scene should get in touch, the force said.
