The family of a woman who was killed in a car crash have been left "deeply wounded" by her death.

Lindsay Shakeshaft, from Cheadle, was driving on the A523 Poynton Relief Road, in Adlington, Cheshire at about 07:45 BST on Wednesday when her vehicle collided with another car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 54-year-old's family said she was a "resolute, compassionate, and supportive woman to many people".

A 35-year-old woman who was driving the other vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed.

'Missed by all'

Cheshire Police have urged any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.

Mrs Shakeshaft's family said she was a wife, mother, sister and auntie who would be "missed by all who knew her".

They added they were "deeply wounded by the news of the collision".

The family also thanked the emergency services and members of the public for their help during the incident.
