Boy raises £800 for hospital where he was treated

A Jersey boy has raised £800 for a hospital ward where he has been cared for several times.
Alfie Holt, 7, ran the Marathon Mile in the island earlier this month to support the Robin Ward, which cares for babies, children and young people.
He was treated on the ward three times as a baby when he needed minor ear operations and said he wanted to give back to the ward.
Staff showed Alfie and his family around the ward and explained how the money Alfie has raised could be spent to help other children.
Alfie admitted he had not done much training before the Marathon Mile, which is mostly raced by schoolchildren.
He said it was “really hard” and “I got a stitch halfway through”.
Alfie added: “I wanted to raise money for the Robin Ward to make it better and so they can buy new toys and games for children”.
He also wanted to say “thank you” to the staff who had cared for him when he was a baby.
Alfie's mum, Clair Lumsley, joined her son to look around Robin Ward and meet the staff.
She said she was "really proud" of Alfie and was "quite surprised" he was so excited to take part as "he is not a runner".
"I think he wants to treat the children that are in here and especially coming up to Christmas so we might go for some care packages," she added.
Staff at the Robin Ward praised Alfie for his fundraising, external and his interest in helping other children.
Paediatric Sister Courtney McDade said his fundraising had been “absolutely amazing” and it would be "amazing for the other children coming on to the ward”.
