Delays to work in a Hull park has caused parkrun events to be cancelled.

Work on renewing the footpaths in the city's East Park was scheduled to begin on 7 October, with work expected to last four weeks.

However, Hull City Council said "due to supplier issues" the work had been delayed.

"The council is working with the supplier to resume the works as soon as possible and will provide a new completion date as soon as possible," a spokesperson said.

“We sympathise with parkrun and their runners, and understand the inconvenience caused by the delay."

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), the runs have been suspended until the new year.

A spokesperson for Hull parkrun told the LDRS they were “working on an alternative course that, hopefully, we will be able to put into place pretty soon”.

They also confirmed that events would be run over the Christmas period.
