Guernsey cost of living survey deadline extended
- Published
A cost of living survey for residents in Guernsey has had its deadline extended by three months.
The States of Guernsey said the Household Expenditure Survey was set up to gather information about how much people are spending at shops and online.
The survey will remain open until the end of December with three cash prizes of up to £150 available for people who take part, the States said.
Head of data and analysis Helen Walton said more than 600 households have so far taken part in the survey but the States had a target of 1,000 which it wanted to reach.
'Important results are accurate'
Ms Walton said: "Since the results will be used to work out the weights that will be used to calculate Guernsey's inflation indices for the next five years, it's important that the results are accurate."
The States said letters are issued to randomly selected addresses before being followed up by a visit from a survey fieldworker.
People can also volunteer to take part in the survey, the States added.
During the survey, people are asked to keep a record of everything they buy over a two-week period.
One person selected at random will receive the top prize of £150, with the runner up winning £100 and third place receiving £50.
The prize draw will take place on 30 January 2025.
