Warning over drug packets made to look like sweets

Parents are being warned to be vigilant after drugs concealed in pouches resembling sweet packets were seized in Dorset.

Dorset Police said it carried out "proactive investigations" at a number of properties in Swanage on Tuesday.

Officers found cannabis and other drugs inside scores of colourful pouches designed to imitate well-known confectionery brands.

A similar packet containing wraps of drugs was later found by officers in Days Park.

Purbeck Neighbourhood Policing Team said it found "quite a collection" during the searches, adding: "Parents please be aware if you should find these in your children’s possession."

In a later update, posted on Facebook, external, the team said: "After our proactive address checks for drugs this morning in Swanage, someone appears to have dropped some wraps in Days Park.

"Not ideal given the how many children use this space on a regular basis.

"They’ll be sent for destruction shortly."
