A woman has been critically injured in a stabbing at an office building.

Police were called at 09:15 BST to the Solent Centre in Whiteley, Hampshire.

A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries to her abdomen after a "targeted" attack, detectives said.

A 37-year-old man from Southsea, who was also taken to hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police gave no details of the suspect's injury.

Det Ch Insp Alex Spratt said: "We understand the concern this incident will cause among those working in the area, but we believe this to be a targeted incident and there is currently nothing to suggest a risk to the wider community.

"Officers will be in the area conducting inquiries throughout the day.

"If you have any concerns or information please speak with them."
