Family tribute to man who died in wine bar fire

A man whose body was recovered following a fire at a derelict wine bar has been named by police.

Jamie Parker, 40, from Stoke-on-Trent, was discovered by police inside the former Yates wine bar on Brockley Square, off Trinity Street, in Hanley on 16 March.

The results of a post-mortem, held on Wednesday, said that a cause of death was unascertained, officers added.

Mr Parker's sister, Stephanie Parker, paid tribute to her "cheeky chappy" older brother, who was "very comical, with a great sense of humour" and could "light up the room".

Speaking on behalf of her family, Ms Parker added that her brother had "loved his family deeply and absolutely adored our mum" and was a "much-loved brother, son, uncle, and cousin".

Ms Parker said her brother, who was always "cracking jokes and making you laugh," had loved films, music and singing.

"We will always love and remember Jamie for who he was," she said.
