Murder charge after death of man in his 70s

A 40-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of a man in his 70s over the weekend.

Detectives were called to a property in Garsington, near Oxford, shortly after 22:00 GMT on Sunday.

The pensioner was found with a serious head injury at the address in Oxford Road and died in hospital on Tuesday, Thames Valley Police said.

Daniel Gonzalez, from Oxford Road, Garsington, was charged on Wednesday with murder in connection with the incident.

Mr Gonzalez has also been charged with actual bodily harm, in connection with an assault of a police officer.

He was due to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The man in his 70s has yet to be formally identified, but his next of kin have been made aware of his death, Thames Valley Police said.
