Visitors and those attending outpatient appointments are being asked to ensure they are symptom free of any potentially contagious illnesses

Visitors are being asked not to attend the Princess Elizabeth Hospital campus if they are unwell.

Guernsey's Health and Social Care Committee (HSC) said there had been a recent rise in visitors presenting potential symptoms of illnesses such as cold, flu, stomach bugs and Covid.

Officials have asked visitors to be responsible as, if illnesses were passed to patients on wards, it caused additional risks.

No restrictions on visitation are currently in place, but the HSC said it would consider temporary measures if the situation did not improve.

The HSC added that it hoped a positive legacy of the community's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic would be islanders knowing to stay home if they were unwell.
