Drivers have been warned to plan their journeys as Blackpool's promenade will be closed for this year's Pride celebrations.

Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Pride Festival takes place over Saturday and Sunday, featuring headliners Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, The Cheeky Girls and Deeper Shade of Blue.

Contenders from Ru Paul's Drag Race will also perform as part of the street party spectacle.

The promenade will close on Saturday for the main parade, Blackpool Council said.

'Stronger together'

It will be closed to traffic from 09:30-12:00 BST between Springfield Road and Burlington Road West.

The festival parade will start from 11:00 at Sandcastle Waterpark and finish at North Pier.

The theme for parade this year is "together we are stronger", organisers said.

The council urged motorists to "please plan extra time for your journey" and said diversions would be signposted.
