Three-day closure for western road resurfacing

A main route through the west of the Isle of Man is to close for three days next month for resurfacing works.
The A3 Ramsey Road will be shut between Ballig Bridge and the Cronk-y-Voddy crossroads from 12 April.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the bulk of the work will be resurfacing, as well as patch repairs, line painting and preparatory works ahead of the TT.
Two sections of Creg Willy's Hill are being resurfaced between Glen Helen and Sarah's Cottage and the north-bound lane at Ballig Bridge, which currently has a temporary surface, would be restored.
The DOI said ditching and drain clearing works would also be carried out during the period so that the maintenance could be completed "more quickly and safely" and with "less overall disruption to the general public".
'Quickly and safely'
Access to businesses at Glen Helen and for local residents would be "maintained under local traffic management" but here would be "no access between Glen Helen and Sarah's Cottage at any time during the works", the DOI said.
Traffic heading both north and south, including bus services, will be diverted to the Peel Coast Road.
The works will coincide with a temporary 30mph (48 km/h) speed limit on the Ballabooie Road.
The DOI said the closure has been timed to "minimise disruption to commuters, buses and weekday commercial traffic".
The full three-day closure would be much faster than work undertaken using temporary traffic lights, which would have taken about 10 working days, causing "significant delays", it added.
The carriageway will be closed from 09:30 BST on 12 April until 18:00 on 14 April.
