Plans for a new £20m golf course on Merseyside have been approved by councillors.
About 150 jobs could be created by the development of an existing 18-hole course at Kirkby Valley Golf Course.
L32 Trading Ltd (LTL), who acquired the lease to the course in 2019, submitted a planning application to Knowsley Council in 2021, but it has been revised to minimise impact on the site's greenbelt status after a consultation.
Councillor Tony Brennan, who is responsible for the borough's economic development, said: "This exciting scheme will create new jobs and deliver economic benefits to Kirkby and the wider borough."
LTL estimated 65 jobs would be created during construction, while an extra 93 roles would be needed for the operational aspect.
They have also pledged to provide opportunities for local schools and disadvantaged groups.
Founded in 1928, the area consists of an 18-hole course dissected by the River Alt.
While the golf course is located in Knowsley, the land is owned by Liverpool City Council, who leased the course to LTL for 150 years in 2019.
A new nine-hole golf course will also be constructed on 52 acres of disused land near the existing site.
There are also plans for a new two-storey clubhouse with a bar, restaurant and function space.
The current clubhouse is expected to be transformed into a training academy with overnight accommodation for golf professionals.
