People are being warned to make sure they lock their cars following a number of thefts in Guernsey.

It comes after Guernsey Police said it had recently dealt with several incidents involving unlocked vehicles being stolen overnight.

The force says people should make sure their car is locked and valuable belongings are hidden out of sight in order to stop giving "a gift to opportunistic thieves".

"Be vigilant, lock your car wherever it is - it takes a matter of seconds and it's always worth the effort," police said.
