Hull's first outdoor swimming lesson in decades
- Published
The first outdoor swimming lesson in Hull for over 30 years has taken place.
Twenty-eight year five pupils from St Thomas More Voluntary Catholic Academy made a splash during the swimming lesson and fun session at Albert Avenue Pools.
The venue underwent a £10.5m extensive refurbishment over an 18-month period, including the construction of a heated outdoor lido.
A large gym and fitness studio has been created and the building has been redecorated and refurbished.
The school was one of the winners of a hook-a-duck competition in 2023 which celebrated the reopening of Albert Avenue Pools.
Winning entries of large rubber ducks with water safety related drawings from pupils at the school are now on display at the pool.
The project was delivered by Hull Esteem Consortium LEP with work undertaken by local contractors Hobson and Porter.
