The family of a cyclist involved in a crash with a car said he had died in a place that was "special to him".
Neal Doggett, 64, died in the collision with a Ford Mustang on Kirkstone Pass in the Lake District on Monday.
In a statement his family said riding up the pass had been "one of his joys" and "although the circumstances of his death are tragic, his family know that he died in a place that was special to him".
The driver of the car, a man in his sixties, was assisting police with their investigation, Cumbria Police said.
Mr Doggett grew up in Windermere and lived in Edinburgh, his family said.
"Neal frequently came back to Windermere to visit family and riding up Kirkstone Pass was one of his joys," their statement said.
"Although the circumstances of his death are tragic, his family know that he died in a place that was special to him."
They said he was "a much-loved father to two beautiful daughters, a husband and a brother".
The family thanked everyone who helped Mr Doggett.
The road was shut after the collision, which happened at about 19:00 BST, and reopened in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
