New team takes over St Peter Port Christmas lights

The committee said the success of the lights would depend on "public support and collaboration"

A new committee has been appointed to light up St Peter Port this Christmas, the States of Guernsey has said.
Officials said the new committee, made up of local business owners, community leads and volunteers, had already started work for a "bigger, brighter and more community-driven display".
For the last eight years, Jax and Keith Robin had organised the event but have recently retired.
Jonathon Creasey, chairman of the committee, said the team was looking forward to "building on the hard work" its predecessors had put into the event.
Mr Creasey said: "Our team is full of energy and ideas, and we're working hard behind the scenes to brighten up St Peter Port this year."
The committee said plans were under way to restore and repair the existing lighting and prepare for the annual switch on, which it said was set to take place on 30 November.
It said the success of the lights would depend on "public support and collaboration", and added fundraising efforts would soon be under way.
"Every little helps", Mr Creasey said.
"While St Peter Port is home to the lights, the whole island benefits from the wonderful atmosphere that they bring to the capital, we really want the entire community to feel connected."
The committee said it was searching for an administrator to volunteer a few hours a month and anybody interested should get in touch.
