An e-fit image has been released of a man police would like to trace after a woman was allegedly the victim of a serious sexual assault while running.

Suffolk Police says the victim, in her 30s, was on a path off Iliffe Way, Stowmarket, between 05:45 and 06:00 GMT on 19 November when she was approached by a man.

The woman said the suspect - described as white, about 5ft 10in (1.8m) tall and of a medium build - pulled her to the ground before sexually assaulting her.

"We would ask that people look closely at the EvoFIT and contact us if they believe they know who it resembles," said Det Insp Stuart Dolan-Allen.

At the time of the alleged attack, police said the man was wearing a dark beanie hat, a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and smelt strongly of cigarettes and cannabis.

Police arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault before releasing him without charge.

Officers have conducted checks of the area and say they have spoken to 40 people.

"We have officers pursuing a number of other lines of inquiry and the community can continue to expect to see an increased police presence in the area," added Det Insp Dolan-Allen.
