Bravery medals for lifeboat crew that rescued man

Three members of Hornsea Inshore Rescue have received bravery medals for rescuing a man and his dog.
The crew members were presented with The Royal Humane Society’s bronze medals for bravery during a ceremony in London.
John Muldowney, who was rescued after getting cut off by the tide, said he wouldn’t be here without them.
Lifeboat skipper Karl Shannon said it was “one of the most difficult rescues” he had been involved in.
Mr Muldowney was walking his dog on the beach north of Hornsea in March 2023 when he became cut off by large waves.
Hornsea’s lifeboat, the Spirit of Hornsea, was returning from another job when the crew spotted him clinging to the cliff.
Coxswain Karl Shannon and crew members Carl Handley and Shona Richards were presented with the medals.
Ms Richards said: “It was such a lovely occasion and I am so pleased and very proud to have been awarded the medal.”
