Both runways at the Isle of Man's airport have reopened following an earlier closure after a light aircraft burst a tyre on landing, the facility's bosses have confirmed.

The closure had led to a delay of about 50 minutes to the arrivals of the Aer Lingus flight from Dublin, due at 12:40 BST, and the EasyJet flight from Bristol, which was due at 12:50.

Those delays have had a knock-on effect on the outward bound flights on the same routes, both of which have also been delayed.

In a statement, airport authorities said that the light aircraft has been "successfully and safely moved from the runway".

"We apologise for any delays to your flights and appreciate your patience and understanding," the statement added.
