Boy, 13, charged over police officer attack near school

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with carrying a knife and assaulting a police officer.
The teenager was arrested following the incident at a park near Newbattle High School on Monday.
Police Scotland were called to the school in Dalkeith just after lunchtime after being alerted by a community support officer.
Midlothian Council said no one was hurt and children at the school were safe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 13-year-old boy was charged in connection with offences including being in possession of a knife and police assault.
“A report will be submitted to the relevant authorities.”
