A man has been charged with stealing a firefighter's helmet.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was taken as a dozen crews tackled a large blaze at a former shoe factory in Norwich last month.

Police said a 48-year-old man had been charged with theft, as well as two further counts of theft from shops in Norwich city centre.

He was released on bail ahead of a hearing at Norwich Magistrates' Court on 11 April.

The fire service previously said the missing helmet prevented an officer from being able to go back to the scene until a replacement was found.

Smoke and an orange glow can be seen coming from behind a residential home. There is a police officer and a car in the picture.
